It is with deep sorrow that I have learned of the passing of the most venerable Bishop Desmond Mpilo Tuto, who tirelessly fought lifelong for human rights and stood upright against apartheid. His long and fruitful life had set a legacy for the all the generations on how responsible a human being should be in becoming sensitive to the real issues of humankind. It is true that the vacuum he left cannot be filled up but the hope and inspiration he had given to the world will continue to sustain for ever. The blessed Bishop’s life itself will remain as a challenge for generations to come as the philanthropic standards he kept encompasses the values of the Kingdom of God. Our sorrows on this loss ought to be compensated with the hope for eternal life and by raising the standards of our lives to the luminary Bishop’s set standards. The Malankara Orthodox Church joins the international community in expressing its integrity and prayers on this loss while praying for the bereaved family.
